Transhumanism, Posthumanism, And The “Cyborg Identity”

The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief analysis two confusable philosophical positions, Transhumanism and Posthumanism, compare their approaches in terms social ecological concerns through an examination Donna Haraway’s “cyborg identity.” Haraway introduces ground-breaking approach A Cyborg Manifesto her later works, which blurs the formerly defined, distinct categories identities that underlie oppression animals, humans, men, women, machines etc. By using postmodernist deconstruction, she wants challenge Western dualisms all kinds it causes. While Transhumanists, who inherit anthropocentrism from Humanism, support technological advancement enhance human condition, Posthumanists draw attention harms anthropocentric justice offer more comprehensive compassionate other species inhabiting planet. Since both Transhumanists promote enhancement, need Posthumanist insights really condition concerning environment.
